As a new art season rings in, Art Exhibitions Magazine's audience handpicked these not-to-miss exhibitions of Summer 2023. Make sure to check them out if you haven't watched yet.
5. Textile Exhibitions at the Victoria & Albert Museums, Dundee and London
If you love textiles and fashion, V&A got you covered with both their art collections and summer exhibitions. Do come by to see "Tartan" to admire many unseen varieties and history of the famous Scottish plaids, while the architectural wonders of the art museum calls for a perfect afternoon tea or coffee break in Dundee -- where the best Scottish art school is located.
4. London Tate Modern contemporary and modern art special exhibitions
What's on view at Tate Modern after they completely re-hanged their permanent collections first time in years? This dual episode of mixed art pieces of modern and contemporary artists does not disappoint. I myself found the painting and sculpture exhibitions so interesting, as recent acquisitions packed in a room were usually boring to art institution visitors. Kudos to Tate Modern's curators!
3. Yaoyi Kusama at Factory International Contemporary Art, Manchester
Think you've seen all the cold, lifeless steel polka dot sculptures and been to all colored infinity rooms? The hyper-productive little lady shows you her softness by exhibiting these welcoming giant balloons, whilst herself singing along on screen -- only at the super popular art incubator Factory International, Manchester in summer of 2023. The exhibition has truly turned the gallery space into an incredible "home" for everyone: You do not feel crowded or bothered by anyone at the show. Instead, the circumstance is so moving and loving, with good vibes shared with all.
2. Camden Art Centre solo exhibition by Artist Martin Wong
As London is embracing an organically growing art scene created by young Chinese art school graduates and art galleries, how can these young artists relate their background to the exhibition of long-time New York City based Chinese-American painter Martin Wong? Camden Art Centre presents the artist's important work, including those made during his period in San Francisco -- the No.1 city where Chinese people are living in America. Viewers get a cultural refresher and they say they had never expected to see such an amazing show.
1. A full tour from The Hepworth Wakefield sculpture collections, to its contemporary art exhibitions, and then the Garden
A Hepworth art museum easily triggers our imagination of the sculptor's signature green or white shade sculpture array. Yet the summer contemporary art exhibitions at The Hepworth Wakefield boost great vibrancy that echo with the property's splendid river view and garden. Art Exhibitions Magazine audience were shocked to see the amount of inspiring large-scale paintings at the sculpture museum, so make sure you go through all of them -- each of them brings you quite different personal connections to the arts.
